CRM 2011 auto tracking not working

Unanswered CRM 2011 auto tracking not working

After installing rollup 6 for CRM 2011 we have a few users that email auto tracking is not working for.  If we manually do a sync then they will sometimes get auto tracked.  Has anyone seen this?

Are you using the email router or the CRM Outlook client to track email?  If it's the router, does testing it still work?  If it's the Outlook client, have you made sure to update the client to UR6 as well?

Can you post some screenshots of the CRM Outlook Client's Email Tracking configuration page?  Maybe something there got turned off with the patch.

The auto tracking is still an issue, is anyone else having this or have any solutions?

    We experience the same behavior.

We have a virtual desktop that is set-up with the Outlook application running, and tracking all incoming emails to CRM2011 (on premise installation). After implementing roll-up 6 the autotracking has become unstable. Emails will be tracked, until tracking suddenly stops. Most often, after restarting Outlook, emails will be tracked.

All has been working well right up until the point of implementing RU6 on both client and server.

We been unable to find a reason for this. And our support ticket at Microsoft has not helped either. They did not have any issues like this in their system.

We may see a connection between tracking stopping and the following event:

Similar problems here. UR6 on both server and clients (outlook 2007/2010). Manually tracking an email from an existing lead works fine, but no matter what, automatic incoming tracking will not work. Outlook clients set to track incoming email from leads, contacts, accounts but only manual tracking works. Users incoming and outgoing email set to Outlook. Glad to see there are people with similar issues out there. Tracing is so overly verbose it doesnt help... Argh.

Disabling TAGGING in the diagnostic tool seems to work for us. Not sure why. The above event still comes once in a while, but tracking contiues.

I am seeing some of the same behavior, but still with R5.  Inbound email is marked Track and the reply doesnt show up as being tracked.

Automatic E-Mail Tagging is already unchecked on my install, still nothing gets tracked unless I manually click to track an email. If I manually click, it finds the lead or contact without issue and adds the email to CRM, but no auto tracking works for any client here, whether outlook 2007 or 2010. It was working at some point, but I failed to notice which rollup broke it, though by looking through dates in CRM, it seems to correspond with UR6...

glad to see others are searching and ending up here. Have been using CRM since early in CRM 4 days and I know I'm not just missing a simple checkbox to make tracking work. Used to work, now it doesnt...

Nope. UR7 applied to server, email router and outlook client.

User set with outlook for both incoming and outgoing email. In outlook options 'check incoming email' is checked. Option is set to track email from leads, contacts and accounts. Send myself an email from a lead and the icon never changes in outlook and there is no activity on the lead.

I uninstalled the client, reinstalled and applied Ur7 and still nothing. Very simple setup and it should work. Is it working for others?

When you do track in email can you go find in CRM and make sure that all the recipients are created as a record type in CRM that is that noone of them is "red"

Think I got it all squared away. I think the update rollup confounded the issue. Around the same time as the rollup 6, our primary smtp address suffix changed from @company1.com to @company2.com. But, the user information in CRM is static, so my primary email was set to @company1.com. I changed that to @company2.com and now its working as it should. didnt have to uncheck anything in diagnostics. One other change I made which might have helped, not sure, was to change the CRM server url from a cname to a host record. Not sure if that helped. Thanks den_mark. Paying attention to what was being linked when i manually clicked track lead me to it.

    Thanks all,

this is still an issue for us. replies are tracked once you make the adjustment in your personal settings but you have to manually assign the initial email to the record, basically set regarding no matter what. then it tracks any replies or responses (note: it does take a few moments to officially track newly received responses)

also, when you untrack, it only untracks that specific message, so the rest of the replies/responses that were automatically tracked when you tracked the first message are still tracked. you must untrack each one individually. not a bug just something to point out to people who think they are untracking things.
