Automatic Approval of Selective tasks in a timesheet

Hi,
In our company, we have two different types of projects - internal and external. On any given day, our employees work on both these types of projects. These project types will be differentiated by a custom project field.
I need to know if there is any way I can configure the Project Server 2007 so that all time submitted for internal project tasks will be automatically approved at a fixed time - say every Monday noon. On the other hand, the time submitted for external project tasks are sent for approval to the timesheet manager. If it is not possible by configuration, would any customization help?
What we have tried already-
Since both these project types have their own project plans, we have ruled out the possibility of using 'Administrative Time' feature to track internal project tasks.
Any insights/workarounds to help us resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Praveen

Praveen --In Project Server 2007, the only auto-approval feature is for PMs to create and use Rules to auto-approve task updates arising from the Task Updates page of team members. There is no way to set up Rules to auto-approve time submitted from the My Timesheet page. The only way to handle My Timesheet auto-approval that would be through custom software development. Thanks Dale.
My understanding of the timesheet architecture is that they are designed as resource centric – originating from the resource to the timesheet manager. The relation between a timesheet(as a collection of task hours) and the approval (as an action) is one-to-one. This means that, although timesheets can be routed & forwarded to collect the approval of more than one person, each designated approver can only approve the timesheet as a whole and not in parts. Did I get it right? In this context, would customization help my cause?

Praveen

Dale,
I am looking for a little bit more than what you have outlined. We need automatic approval of only the time logged for 'certain tasks' belonging to a certain type(internal) of project.
Say a resource is working 50% on an internal project and 50% on an external project on any given day. When the timesheet is submitted, the task hours that she/he logs for the 50% of work in the internal project should be automatically approved and the task hours that she/he logs for the 50% of work in the external project should be routed to the manager for approval.
Thanks in advance for your clarification,
Praveen

The approver must approve or reject the entire timesheet. So, no, I now agree with you that custom software development probably will not be of any benefit to you. Sorry for the confusion. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. Needed a confirmation on this before we started exploring alternatives.
