Hi Michael,
I did not take a pre-exam for project. I know that the 77-178 exam will not be released until Q3 next year. Read about these exams in this blog:

Hello Maurice,
I know that the final release will be next year, but this year there is a beta-exam for special project users. I just want to know if anybody has already passed this beta-test and how to prepare for it.

Hello Michael,
This exam is now available only on beta version for some people and is known as 71-178 on prometric site.
I did the exam but they don't show your score at the end, so you don't know if you passed or not the exam.
The exam was quite easy for those who have experience with others microsoft project versions. The most important things (in my opinion) are:
- Study and practice the new features of MS Office Project 2010;
- Study the graphic interface and the new locations of some features;
Altought I consider that the exam was not so difficult, I must warn you that this exam is harden than 70-632. You must be prepared for several questions that will require you to know the exact location to perform a certain action. Knowing that the graphic interface has changed a lot you have to study all these changes to make sure you will not have surprises on your exam.

Good point about the name of the test on the Prometric site. It is listed as 77-178, because it was intended to be in the 77 series origianally, but was officially moved back to the 70 series, but not in time for the Prometric correction for the beta version.

During all Microsoft exams are free during the beta period.
But the candidates are invited via email and supplied with a promotional code.
And I guess the beta period for 70-178 has ended.

How do you know the Beta period has ended?
The exam site still shows as "In Development" with release date of 2/15/2011.

15. února 2011 21:04For past Beta exams I took years ago, paper letter was sent out. It seems logical to just update the MCP site if it's a passing score.

I did the exam in beta version and had the same answer.
But the result was showed after feb, 15.
Do you know something, about this?

FYI - I just received an email from Microsoft today indicating I passed the Beta exam!
The online transcript has also been updated on the MCP site.
