Will the new communicator allow you to send a broadcast type alert?
We used Sametime in the past and it had this feature and the users really missed it when we converted to OC.

17. května 2007 18:54 If you create a distribution group that contains all of the users that you would want to be contacted in a broadcast type alert, you could IM to this DG. This isn't an actual broadcast alert, but should work like what you are describing.

Will the members of the group be able to respond to the initial message?
This sounds like the capability of the MS sample app called Group Presence, which
works okay but the interface still looks like a regular IM message.

Yes, they would be able to respond. It would just be a regular IM message sent out to everyone.
I will add this as a product request to the product group. I will let you know here if I hear of anything else.

I have tired both the Group Presence sample and the Broadcast Web app sample, but neither worked in my environment. The Group Presence sample had the features I was looking for and worked exactly how I would like, but it would not run on all of my desktops. Unfortunately, I could get the developer resources to fix it.
The broadcast web apps was cool in that it utilized a tab on Communicator, but sending a broadcast with it started a group chat which was not products for 80+ users.
Is there anything else available, either as a sample or commercially? Any chance that a feature like the Group Presence sample will be made a part of Communicator?
