Am having an issue importing sample data to the org - when selecting the solution the browser just hangs.

Hi Sarah,
Are you installing the out of the box sample data that came with the solution itself or are you importing your own sample data?

Try closing & restarting your browser.
You can try to Go to Settings > Data Management > Imports and Click Delete, and then select All Imported Records from the .zip file. And Go to Settings > Data Management > Sample Data > Remove Sample Data.
Then try to redo your scenario of double clicking the Solution to go to the Configuration page & install the Solution specific Sample Data.
