Hi there,
Please see the following guides (2007 method is the same as 2010):
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/RenameProject.aspx
Project site see steps below:
Go to the project site
Click Site Actions > Site settetings, Under look and feel click Title, Description and Icon. Here you can change the site title and URL to match the new name as required.
Thanks
Paul

WLID1966 --My personal preference is to use Microsoft Project 2010 for this. To rename a project and its Project Site, do the following:1. Launch Microsoft Project 2010 and connect to Project Server.2. Click File > Open.3. Double-click the Retrieve the list of all projects from Project Server line to view all projects that you have permission to see and open.4. Right-click on the project in question and then select the Rename item on the shortcut menu.5. When Microsoft Project 2010 places the project name in editing mode, rename the project, and then click the OK button.6. In the confirmation dialog, click the OK button.7. Press the F5 function key to see the new name for the project in the Draft database.8. Open the project for editing.9. Save and publish the project. The last step will save the new name of the project in the Published and Reporting databases, and will change the name of the Project Site as well. The only thing you CANNOT do using any method is to change the URL of the Project Site. It will always retain the old name of the project. Hope this helps.Dale A. Howard [MVP]

Hi Dale,
I believe you can edit the Project Site URL on the Title, Description and Icon page (Site actions > Site Settings from the Project Site) then use the Edit Site Address option in PWA > Server Settings > Project Sites to update Project Server's reference for the Project Site to the new URL.
Hope that helps

I have been renaming projects in Project Server 2010 in the following way:
- Open the project in MS Project Professional
- Change the name of the project in File - Project Information - Advanced Properties - Title
- Delete the project in PWA
- Save the project (File - Save) and give it the same name as in titel
- Publish the project

Yes and no. We both open the project, change the name (either by rename or my way) and save and publish. My extra step is to delete the project but I prefer that because I feel more in control. And aren't PMs supposed to be control freaks?

12. listopadu 2012 14:27After entering 20 projects onto PWA we decided to introduce a naming convention. This meant that each project had to be renamed which, in my case, meant deleting the old one on PWA and saving it with the new name.

Hi HFprojects,
I would recommend NOT to do a "save as" and delete the original project.
If you do so, you will loose any pending (saved or submitted) task updates, because they are bound to the original assignment UIDs and you will get new UIDs by doing a save as.
I prefer the renaming in PWA to using Project Professional. I have seen cases where the project was named differently in draft and published database afterwards. I have never been able to reproduce it actively, but I prefer to be on the safe side....
Regards
Christoph

That is a good point. Originally I wanted to rename the project in PWA but couldn't see where do it.
