I have read several posts of the restore process and can't find anyone who chose to update their hardware at the same time of a restore (ie:MB, SATA drive from non SATA)  Is this possible if I have the correct drivers for the new hardware?  What about the XP OS and the installed programs, is there a wrinkle there?

Thanks for any help!  This is something I am going to attempt tonight.

    Hi Dennis,
there is currently no reliable way to restore an OS backup from WHS (or other imaging software, maybe besides certain Acronis editions) to different hardware in a way it still boots.
Often it works, if you change the settings for the SATA controller in Bios to be IDE compatible, if the HAL is the same for the new hardware.
In all other situations at least for Windows XP a repair installation (with a SP3 slipstreamed installation CD) should do the job.
    Best greetings from Germany
