- In case anyone else is interested I have found a post on another Forum explaining how you can do this without using Outlook.

- IF you use Outlook on your computer, import the csv file to Contacts. Then connect your phone to your computer and sync. Is it just one contact that you want to import???
- Hello Linley,
i don't use Outlook or windows in my computer, so i can't import contacts with ActiveSync. I want import a csv file existing yet in my windows mobile phone, any idea?
Thanks for you help.
Nico Hello,
It is not possible to import a csv file from within the device itself.
- Bad new. I'm gonna try to find another solution like sync contacts via gmail contacts and after sync with windows mobile solutions like oggsync or others if exist.
Nevertheless thanks very much for your help.
Nico - I am also trying to import contacts to my new Windows Mobile phone. I have a CSV file but do not have Outlook and do not want to pay for oggsync. Please can you tell me how I do this. This has to be a basic requirement that the majority of users will need as soon as they start to use the phone?
- Again, there IS NO WAY TO IMPORT DATA DIRECTLY INTO THE CONTACTS APPLICATION ON THE MOBILE DEVICE. The only way to do this is by getting the data into outlook and then syncing the information to the mobile device. If you don't want to purchase Outlook, you can download a trial version of Outlook from Microsoft's website. Import the CSV file into Outlook, sync the data and then uninstall Outlook from your computer.

Regards - Hey! That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing the link.
Thanks buddy,
This link is very helpful
- That worked really well for me...A lot of work for such a simple task.I would love to find an online address book app...
- nice~ thanks for sharing
- If it is not possible to import contacts from another phone into Windows Mobile how does Microsoft expect people to change phones without either buying Outlook just for the import (and not use it after) or type in 500 contacts by hand. It strikes me as crazy!
- There is no need to buy these programs.
When I updated the ROM in my Treo 700wx from WM5 to WM6, I lost all my contacts. I could not get Activesync 4.5 to work with Outlook 2007. After some research I was able to move all my contacts over from my laptop to my Treo. Here's what I did.
1. Exported "Contacts" to a CSV file. [[http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/et090604.htm]]
2. Imported CSV file into Gmail (make sure you import your contacts into the "my contacts" area.) [[http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12119]]
3. I synced my phone with gmail contacts using Activesync on my phone. [[http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299]]
