While in a CRM 2011 report, I have the choice to export to Excel, PDF, etc., but nothing happens once I make a selection. I have full Admin rights and all of the necessary software loaded, but must have missed a switch somewhere. Any ideas?

Under the UI layers, the export function is served by the report server. I don't know what the exact problem could it be but there are different things you could try.
Is this problem faced by all CRM users and on different machines? If no, then compare user/machine settings and let us know.
If yes, try getting a CRM online instance (assuming you are on-prem right now) and simulate the problem. If it works, the problem is with your report server. Else it is the client machines.
In case it is something with the report server, try running a fiddler trace and see if there are any errors.
