Locked Virus Scan Froze @ 90%

Yesterday, I ran My virus scan it froze my computer when it got to 90% (after over 8 hours) complete.  It then would not start back up.  I shut the computer off over night and let it rest.  It turned it on in the morning, but when I ran the scan again, (the 10 minute one) it froze again.  I feel that something is wrong with my computer, that is why I ran the virus scan, but I am at a loss here.  When I use internet explorer, my computer just shuts down while in the middle of something.

It does sound you may have a hardware problem, unfortunately. A typical reason for a shut down like this would be overheating. Is this a laptop? If so, check to make sure that all of the vents are clear.
A scan is very processor and drive intensive, so it can generate lots of heat. However, IE causing a shut down may not be heat related.
I suggest contacting support to see if they can help diagnose the cause and if it is an infection, clean it up.

I'm having the same problem.... Ran Tune up and it stopped at 90% and shut down .   I then ran the long scan, got to 90% and shut down . I sat and watched the file names scan past, and it got to somewhere around   C:\WINNT\System32\set4ad?????tmp     and shut down.  Yes, I did sit there for over 2hrs and watched it try and complete.  The protection is why I purchased this product, and now it's giving me problems. No, it's not a laptop either.

    Hi, Firechief.
Please contact support to determine why it is crashing at 90%. The 90% mark typically is the end of the scan. This is the point where action is being taken on threats found, if any.

I did, they fixed it, then the MS Windows XP thing hit and now my computer is stuck in a restart loop.  I can't even keep it running long enough to reboot from XP CD.  Any Ideas?

I suspect that you are referring to the Windows Update that some people encountered problems with before they pulled it? If so, see here for Windows Update support -
