forgot to remove PC from onecare circle before I formated the hard drive
-
1. oktober 2009 16:08I have 2 PC's in my circle, and had a lot of problems with one of them not reading CD's etc to I eventually reformatted the hard drive. Then I remembered that I hadn't removed it from the onecare circle.
Onecare circle tells me the last contact was September 5th 2009 at 10:50.
I've tried to remove the PC from the circle and get the message "An error is preventing onecare from performing this action, please restart and try again, if it persists contact help.
I have gone to help and tried what it suggests but I still can't remove the PC
I would like to add the computer to the onecare circle along with a new notebook so can somebody tell me how to remove the PC from the circle.
OR
Will the onecare circle recognise the PC again if I give it the same name even though the hard drive has been formatted and everything has been reinstalled.
Thanks
Michael

removing the PC is optional and only really needs to be done if you encounter a failure in activating that tells you that you have exceeded the activations for your subscription. Since you have two PCs, go ahead and activate the reformatted/reinstalled one and make it into a hub. Try removing the old duplicate entry from the Circle from that PC. If you then don't want that PC to be a hub, change it to not be one.
I've seen the issue with not being able to remove a PC go away after a reboot of the hub PC and sometimes only after a day or so of just trying a few times.

I installed OneCare onto the PC last night but didn’t sign in and activate it.
I have just tried to activate it but I get a message telling me that it is incompatible, think this is because I have installed Windows 7.
Will OneCare work with Windows 7 or is there a compatibility issue?
I clicked on the link seeking a compatibility solution but it appears to die after a few seconds.

OneCare will not work on Windows 7.
You can install the new Microsoft Security Essentials product that will replace OneCare, albeit without many of OneCare's extras:

Added benefit - it is free.
