    I have an Active Directory domain at home. Can I join my Windows Home Server to my domain?

      Joining Windows Home Server to an Active Directory Domain is not supported.

      If you attempt do join Windows Home Server to a domain it may appear to work. However, the licensing service will kick in after 24 hours and you will be notified that this is not supported and the server will go into a diminished functionality mode until you un-join it.

        This is very dissapointing. 

        While I can understand not wanting to allow WHS to be a domain controller, it should work within an existing domain.  There are two key scenarios for this:

        1) Home users running AD.  These users still can benefit from the media sharing and backup provided by WHS.
        2) Small businesses.  Again, they can benefit from the auto-backup and remote access to their resources.

          This is a real deal-killer.  I was hoping  that WHS would replace my set of NAS linux-based RAID boxes.  Can someone please explain the rationale behind this?  Thank you!

            Can the Home server be *used* in an Active Directory environment, and when you set up user accts on the server, can you pull those accts from AD? If not, i think this would be a good addition to the software.

              Can you expand on 'diminished functionality'?

              I'm running a home network with a PDC and AD.   I changed the WHS settings to join the domain successfully, but the first client PC I tried was unable to connect to it when running the connector application - it just complains the password is incorrect.

              Does this mean that I'm just not able to use WHS at all in this environment?
