Did you find any solution to this problem? I seem to have exactly the same issue.

I had this issue once and rebooted Vail and it never happened again. I didn't file a bug because I couldn't reproduce it, figured that with all the beta testing, pushing all the buttons, I just needed the reboot.

Yes I did, but I realized the server had other issues. The logs were full of othere errors as well, so I decided to re-install the server. After which I got a new problem...

I am having the same problem so I rebuilt my server. As a fresh clean server the Dashboard works fine. Then I installed the 50 or so updates and now the Dashboard won't start.

I had the same error. Looking into the "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs\dashboard.log" showed additional information:

I checked machine certificates (mmc - Certificates snap-in - Computer account - Personal) there were two of them VAIL and VAIL-CA (VAIL is my server name). Certificates had valid dates, but no root trust. I copied the VAIL_CA certificate and pasted into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Certificates got trust, Dashboard successfully started and after server restart everything was back to normal.

    Try this:

    1. Remote Desktop to the home server.

    2. Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Certification Authority.

    3. Right click the SERVERNAME-CA. All Tasks - Renew CA Certificate.

    4. Right click the SERVERNAME-CA. All Tasks - Start Service.

    5. Open Dashboard after reboot the server.

    bg4cip, THANK YOU!

That solved my problem with StorageService.exe faulting (which pretty much hoses everything).  Turns out that my machine rebooted after a CMOS clear, and thus the date/time was borked. This "expired" the CA.

ATTN Microsoft... don't expire a certificate if the system time is _BEFORE_ the certificate was even issued. That's silly.

That doesn't expire the certificate. A certificate has a Valid From and a
Valid To value. If the time on your computer is outside of that period,
then the certificate is considered to be non-valid. That is simply the
standard way that X.509 certificates work and is not a Microsoft invention
it is how the RFC is written. Microsoft is simply following standards which
is the correct thing for them to be doing.
