Cannot change display name

    Frage

  • In the old version forums I have used as display name "Guillermo Delprato [MS-MVP]"

When was suggested to try the new version forums in beta state, I have used "Guillermo Delprato" as display name to not superpose with myused credentials. I used the same passport

Now, when I try to change mi display name to "Guillermo Delprato" (without [...]) the system displays that I cannot use it because it is used.
Yes, of course, it is used by me, with my passport account.

I have mailed forums support many times without any valid answer

    Can anyone help me? Thanks

  • I've searched display name "Guillermo Delprato" and it's not in use. Are you still getting the error message now when changing the displayname? Should work. If not, I'll ping our support folks on this.

  • Yes, it continues with "The Display Name you have selected is already in use. Please select another Display Name"

  • I just pinged our support team on this. If there's really no record of "Guillermo Delprato" as the displayname, I can provide a fix to our support team.

    Thanks.

  • Don't get your hopes up, I haven't seen this being done yet.  You can create a new account and get your old display name back by putting two spaces between your first and last name.

  • I've pinged our support team on this. No Bugz provided a workaround for now. This should be good until we get confirmation from our support team.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks nobugz. I will wait if a solution is found.
If no solution I will try using spaces

  • By the way, Don, this is pretty easy to repro. If no account exists with this display name you theoretically should be able to change your name to it also. Note: you can't...or at least I can't. My guess is this is not a framework dupe but our the other back end user store has this dupe in it.

  • This is probably similar to why I'm not mattfras1. I changed my displayname to test soemthing, and was unable to change it back...
