I have installed a Windows 2003 machine. I opened IE 6 and went to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet and pulled the slider from "High" to "Medium". But I get this error:

The recommended security level for this zone is "High". The level that you have chosen is lower than this. Please choose a security level of "High" or higher.

And then it pushes my slider back to "High". I don't understand why the OS is forcing me to accept a recommendation. I want to set the slider to Medium. Can someone please help me?

If you want to change a specific setting for an URL
You should put that URL in another zone, for example Local Intranet or Trusted Sites
