Custom Entity Icons not showing up in Outlook 2010
-
Dienstag, 29. November 2011 16:27We continue to have issues with trying to get Icons to show up in the Outlook CRM 2011 client for any custom entities. We have tried everything posted on this and they still don't show up under the New Record pull down. Any suggestions?

Hi,
You can select icons by this wizard on custom entity :
In Outlook CRM 2011 client, after you click "Synchronize with CRM", restart Outlook CRM 2011 client.

when you say icons do you mean only the images are missing or are you saying you do not see that entity itself?
Make sure on entity customization you have set the option to make this entity available on outlook client...

is there a solution to this as I am also having the same issue in the outlook client (Office 2010) with CRM 2011 online. As you can see in the image below the icons show in the folder list but not under the CRM Record drop down
Thanks

I saw this same problem.
From the client, run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 -> Diagnostics tool. Then goto advance setting and "Delete Temporary Microsoft Dynamics CRM Client Files"
Of course this only fixes it on one machine, I have no idea how I'm going to tell 500 users to do this.

It might be caching the old images, or not re-syncing the new ones.
Try: clear your browser cache, restart outlook, restart your computer, run the diagnostics tool as mentioned above, force a sync with CRM from outlook. Worst case you could try reinstall the connector.
Also, is this happening across all your users? or a selected few? Do you have any custom icons that appear? and do they load fine in the web client?
Hope this helps.

Hi xAirrick and Paul,
Thanks for your suggestions, I have tried them all but the icons still do not show on the CRM Record drop down in the Outlook client.
to answer your questions Paul, yes it is happening to all users, no custom icons appear in that particular drop down, but they do all appear fine in the web client and in the folder list for the organisation in Outlook (in the outlook navigation pane).
Any other ideas?
Cheers

Dienstag, 20. März 2012 14:40We have also tried everything and still can't get the custom entity icons to show in Outlook 2010. Everything is by the book. If anybody figures this out, please let us know.

Most of the Icons used by the Outlook Client are cached in;
C:\Users\<<username>>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client\IconCache
Try renaming this folder and restarting outlook.
I have an open case with Microsoft, there is a bug somewhere in the code that is allowing the cache to become stale.

Hi xAirrick,
Thanks for your advice. I renamed the folder as you suggested and restarted outlook. Unfortunately the custom icons in the new record dropdown are still not appearing.
Have you had any news on your open case with MS?
Thanks

sorry, looks like you might have a different problem. My case with microsoft is directly related to the caching problem.
Double check to make sure you have a 32x32 pixel image.
Try replacing the icon with a standard OOB icon and see if it shows up (delete your IconCache before you open outlook)
You can also try a different image format, I used PNG- Als Antwort vorgeschlagen MrSquirrel Mittwoch, 24. Oktober 2012 09:19
