Our organisation is looking to use a resource management tool for nothing over $10k. Just wondering if there are any that are better than MS Project Server?

This is an online forum provided by Microsoft about their product "Microsoft Project". You'll have better luck with your question if you re-post in a more appropriate forum. See http://www.microsoft.com/communities/forums/default.mspx or search via Google and/or Bing.
That being said, the point of Project and Project Server is for helping with the data, computations, and reporting associated with managing projects. Managing resources is something different and while clearly related to projects, is not project management. First step would be to figure out what you want to do.

My fault for raising this in a Project forum.. I only did that because a recommended tool for us to use for resource management was Proj Server. This is because we are from the PMO and it would be nice to have everything in the one system.
BUT our recent requirements are that we do not need to have everything tied into the one system such as Proj Server. So my question is, does anyone know of a great tool for resource management only.
We need to be able to:
- Have a central resource list
- Easily input and review resource supply and demand
- Provide a booking movement approval
- Provide reports on resource avail and resource bookings
Project server does do this but I don't believe it does approvals and inputting the resource demand is quite clunky (entering resource demands in a gantt isn't pretty)
