    Hi,

    Very new to WHS 2011 and I'm looking for a way to remotely shutdown the server from the Launchpad or Dashboard or any other way that doesn't involve an 'add-on' solution. As near as I can tell it can't be done without using 'psshutdown'.

    So here are my questions;

    1. Is 'psshutdown' the only way to remotely shutdown the server short of using the command prompt?

    2. Is there a way to remotely access the server desktop?

    Any help is greately appreciated.

    In the dashboard, there is a button you can use to shut down the server. It's under "Server settings".

    I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

    Thanks Ken,

    I've seen that button several times but never actually LOOKED at it. Maybe I should READ the book I bought on WHS 2011 instead of just looking up topics.

    You could even have read the online help, which would have told you the same thing. :)

    I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

    Ken,

    Odd thing; the online help was the first place I went, I searched "Remote Shutdown Windows Home Server 2011", there were 3,300 posts and in the first 60 or 70 that I went through were specific to Win 8, 7, XP, WHS v1 but not one mentioned WHS 2011.

    OH well, thanks again.
