    Hi Guys,

I have installed windows 8 on my brand new computer, looking good most of the time but i seem to have an issue when trying to burn a dvd/cd. All the applications that i use refuse to identify the dvd rom as read/write - and i can't seem to burn.

I have dual boot on this computer - when i switched to windows 7 - i was able to burn my dvd.

So same hardware configuration, winodws 7 worked like a charm - windows 8 - can only read the cd/dvd - but can't write.

    Can anyone help?

    Gili

Gili, this is exactly the same problem I am experiencing. Both of my major video editing programs have had the dvd burn function removed. I'm looking at a printout of the win7 system and I see a copy entire Cd, copy entire dvd, disc image or saved project. The printout on the win8 system shows copy entire cd, disc image or saved project. Maybe it had to do because I did an upgrade instead of a fresh install.

Lets try a fresh install and see what happens.

This question should be asked in the Windows Answers Forum at the following address

Anyway, remember that Windows 8 is still a preliminary version, whose hardware and software support is not perfect yet.
You can visit the Compatibility Center for Windows 8 Consumer Preview web site (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/en-US/CompatCenter/Home) to get informations about the hardware and software supported by Windows 8 CP: maybe your burning programs still cannot work fine when running under Windows 8 CP.

    Bye.
