I recently installed the Windows 8 update, but since my audio has not worked. It won't recognize headsets or even work through speakers. When I try to re-enable them through the "Services" it doesn't work and comes up with Error 1297 - I really need help please, I want to have sounds. It's really annoying!

I really need some help with this, I'm a bit worried now too. I accidentally deleted all of my files - my games, my work etc., so I'm in a serious situation here. I've even reinstalled Windows 8 now, completely from scratch but it still doesn't work! I still can't even fix it in the services file in Run. I still get Error 1297, I need help.
If this fails, how do I revert to XP?

Try this.
- Run "regedit.exe" from command prompt.
- Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv\
- Removed "SeIncreaseWorkingSetPrivilege" from RequiredPrivileges
- Start the Windows Audio Service again.
Note: Make sure Log on => This account is set to "Local Service".

You need to install the updater Windows 8 release preview. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/release-preview?ocid=O_MSC_W8R_OandO_Consumer_EN-US This worked for me.
