OGA gone?

Monday, 20 December 2010 2:19 PMAs of now, this article of Ed Bott should be known: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/microsoft-quietly-shuts-down-office-genuine-advantage-program/2798?tag=content;feature-roto. Is there any background info about this unexpected decision (if there is one)?

Hello Sanmartin,
(funny you should mention "next generation")

IMO, the most significant aspect of the OGA program being retired is that Microsoft has ended its policy of providing free copies of Office to people who inadvertently purchased counterfeit or mislicensed copies of Office from unscrupulous sellers. That was a GREAT policy that helped many people and I for one am sad to see it go.
