Trusted time: 5/14/2012 2:14:10 PMMSDN Keys always show as being retail - and yes I can confirm that the Key here is almost certainly an MSDN Key.It sounds as if you *may* be entitled to a complementary replacement.Be aware that such a replacement comes with a supplementary license that restricts the license to use on that PC, and cannot be transferred to another.

I have checked the Key and I can confirm it is an MSDN Product Key.
As you have probably read, MSDN product Keys come bundled with an MSDN Subscription (MSDN means Microsoft Developer Network). The key that come with an MSDN subscription can not be sold separate from the entire MSDN subscription bundle. If they are they become Non-Valid for use (Non-Genuine).
Normally, I would recommend contacting the seller and demanding a refund, but after a year, that may not be feasible. In this case, you may want to try the link that Noel provided.
Sorry I couldn't be more help,

Darin
Just for my infomation, why did it work for over a year and then come up with a problem? I recieved a real box, real disk, COA, key code, all the same paper in box. I compared it to 3 other copies of software. How - Do you tell? I purcased it from a PC seller, I can't see the difference side by side, if this is a fake copy the fake company has the same manufacturing equipment and they are not hidding under a rock.

Monday, 14 May 2012 11:24 PMApparently, Microsoft recently discovered the product key was being used not in accordance with the MSDN Subscription Agreement. As a result, the product key was flagged as non-genuine. Please submit a confidential Counterfeit Software Report with Microsoft and you may be eligible to receive a complimentary, genuine edition, of Windows 7.
