How do I use the blank area just below a completed Gantt chart and just above its footer to add project notes??  I have added custom numbers beside certain bars in the chart, i.e. (1), (2), etc., and would like to type in a sort of "legend" in that blank area below the chart to type in the notations for each of those numbers.

    Zelliehauser,

Sorry, you can't do that. Project doesn't have a lot of flexibility with its graphics, including printouts. The best you can do is to create custom Gantt Bars and display them at the bottom, or you could use the Notes field but you will have to print them separately by using File/Print/Page setup/View tab and select the Print Notes option.

Update: I just thought of another option if you have no more than 9 custom numbers. You could use the Footer tab and enter up to 3 lines of info in the Left, Center, and Right sections of the footer.

    Hi Zelliehauser,

Just to add to John's response, have you tried to put a text box on the Gantt chart?  Format ribbon, Drawings tab, click on Drawing and select Text tab.  Worth a try!
