I am using MSOP 2010 non server.  I am new to 2010.

I created a resouce pool by opening a blank file and entering information into the resouce sheet.  I then saved the file as Rpool.mpp.

I created a project schedule file and saved it as Project 1.mpp.  I saved the files in the same folder.

I opened the pool file and the project file and created the shared resources.  However when I go to assign resources to the tasking in project 1.mpp the resource from the pool do not appear as available.

Can someone instruct me on the correct way to create this link in MSOP 2010?

    Thanks.

    BlueAngel42,

Okay, well the process is pretty straightforward. It isn't obvious that you did anything wrong but let's go through the steps.

Note: The pool file must be open. Open your Project 1 file and go to Resource/Resource Pool/Share Resources. Select the option to use resources from the pool file. The name of the pool file should appear in the selection window. Hit "OK" and then either open the Assign Resources window or simply click on the selection arrow in the Resource Names field of the Gantt Chart. The resource pool resources should appear.

By the way, I assume you have SP-1 installed. If not, install it.

    John,

Can you give me the steps to verify if SP1 is installed?  I am still trying to learn where everything is on the new ribbon.

    Thanks.

    BlueAngel42,

To check whether or not the service pack is installed go to File/Help. On the right side under the About Microsoft Project heading click on the "additional Version and Copyright information". If SP-1 is installed it will indicate so when the About Microsoft Project window appears.

If you do not have SP-1, go to, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ee748587, download and install it.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks John.  Will give that a try and let you know how it turns out.
