Project Server 2010 OLAP Cube - What is "Calculated Capacity"

In Project Server 2010 OLAP Cubes, there are 3 timephased measures relating to resource capacity:
Base Capacity - the daily* capacity based on base calendar and max. units.
Capacity - Base Capacity minus personal calendar exceptions.Calculated Capacity - this one I couldn't find any information about, nor could anyone else I know. From anectodal testing, it seems to be the same as Capacity, but that's all could find out.
Does anybody know what this measure is about, how it is calculated or how it differs from the other measures? These measures appear in the Virtual MSP Portfolio Analyser Cube, since it's the only cube containing both, work and capacity data.
Thank you for you information and insight on this seemingly unknown measure.
Kind regards,
Adrian* technically, it's not daily capacity but capacity for the currently given timeframe.

Hi Adrian,
The calculated capacity measure is included for backward compatability. This measure was not available by default in Project Server 2007. But a Microsoft article explains how to add it in 2007. For backward compatibility reasons, this calculated measure has been added by default in 2010. (For more info about this measure, see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa974469.aspx)

Hans

Hi Hans,
first of all, thanks a lot for providing an answer. However, after a lot of thought and consideration and even research, I'm still not able to whether this answer is correct or what I was looking for.Your linked post describe how to calculate "Availability", which was a measures in 2003 but removed in 2007. It is still not available in 2010, but can be added in the same way to the Portfolio Analyser cube. What I was asking about was "Calculated Capacity", which does not seem to be related to "Availability" from what I could gather so far.
If the measure "Calculated Capacity" is actually included for backward compatibility, I'm curious for what purposes or which reports, as I wasn't able to find this measure in either Project Server 2007 nor 2003 OLAP Cubes.
All I can tell is that in 2010, "Calculated Capacity"exists and exhibits the same behaviour as "Capacity" and I cannot find it in older versions (not that I am not talking about "Base Capacity" which is a well-known different measure). There is no internal documentation about it and the cube schema file lists it as measure in the Virtual Portfolio Analyser Cubes with the comment "resource timephased capacity" which again leaves me at an impasse. If anyone has any further insight, I'd be happy to hear about it.
Kind regards,

Hello everyone,
when opening the OLAP (2013) Cube in Visual Studio, I saw that the formula for 'Calculated Capacity' is 'Capacity'. So, while sill not clear about the why, we now at least know what it does.
Kind regards,
Adrian
