    I'd really love to try this program but the little slider seems locked in place. I just installed the program on Win 7 and can access the program. Everything seems to work. It even finds the right input source for my mike but the slider is all the way to the left so it doesn't record anything!

    Many sound cards don't support a "microphone gain" feature.  This slider being disabled doesn't mean that your microphone isn't working, it usually just means the microphone has its own way of controlling volume that isn't exposed to applications like Songsmith.
