Saturday, 29 April, 2006 11:03 PMI purchased a valid Averatec 3200 series laptop and with Windows XP already loaded. Averatec says its copy is not counterfit and is legal. Since I downloaded the Windows update this week, all I get now is the notifications that my software is counterfit. I refuse to pay MS another fee for XP and DEMAND they take this software off my computer. I intend to contact every media in the country until MS backs-off and leaves it's customers alone or at least gives us the ability to get rid of its invasive update.

Do you have a COA on the laptop?
What is the error message you are recieving?

I purchased my p.c from a small retailer complete with windows XP . The retailer no longer seems to be in business when I tried to contact him re the MS validation warnings. I am currently on dyalisis and my p.c is one of my few pleasures in life but I can not afford to pay Microsoft anymore money. Please advise on my options.

I am very sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. We have seen many issue where System Builders use Invalid Product keys to install their systems. This has in fact caused problems for their customers. If you could create a free support incident at this location we wil be able to assist you in determming the validity of the product key and the options available to you at this time.
In the support incident you create above and NOT in this forum also provide us with the Product Key that was used to install Windows on your computer.
