    You can try uninstalling One Care, use the cleanup tool - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=828910&SiteID=2  then reinstall One Care. If that does not resolve the issue you may need to contact support.

    I have the same problem.... the thing is i pay for this software.... so my question is what compensation is microsoft going to give me?  this is unacceptable by microsoft... i pay for anti virus software that doesn't virus check.  and then you epect me to waste more of my money to phone microsoft.  i think not.

      I suggest they get the problem fixed asap.

    If you don't contact support (you *can* use email) how do you propose it is fixed on your PC? If the a/v component is failing to start on your PC it is likely due to a conflict or failure of another component. Did it ever work? Is this a new install? If it worked fine before, what changed in the meantime?

    Before installing OneCare, you must remove any other antivirus software and active 'on access' protection to prevent conflicts.

    I've had this software for less than one week and am so ticked off that I wish someone would tell me how to get my money back so I can go and buy a decent anti-virus bundle.  This certainly is not it.  I feel like I've been taken to the cleaners by Bill Gates and Co  I apologize if I sound angry but I am! .

    This is obvously a microsoft issue rather than an individual case issue... i installed One care as part of doing a complete rebuild of the computer.  My other computers work fine... however the are on version 1.6.

    Does anyone have a link to install that old version 1.6 rather than this new beta 2. one?

    2.0 is the latest version of OneCare and is no longer in beta. It was released several weeks ago. 1.6  is no longer available. If you install from a 1.5/1/6 CD, it will still install 2.0.

    If you purchased online, you can cancel and get a full refund by contacting OneCare support.

    If you have a retail copy, and are in North America -  call North American Retail Product Refund at 1-888-673-8624

    Well, that may be a little over the top, NOTHING works perfectly, certainly not softward;

    Even so, I believe this is a problem recocognized by Microsoft, yes? I had the same problem and I believe I got a message from Microsoft a couple weeks ago about this? I'm pretty sure I had to uninstall/reinstall to cure (and did), so it's not helpful to say "conflict."

    But chill, bud, life is to short to freak out like that.

    Thanks for that,

    But that was the first thing I did was re-install it... still no sucess!

    so what solution is next?

    And just to add a little cream to the pie... the techinical service didn't even recognise my PID so i can't that service.  Oh joy!  But don't worry man... I'm chilled.  I'm also a good background in software testing... so i would expect better from microsoft to allow this to get out of beta

    I'm sorry that you can't get through the support validation piece - I've been complaining about that process for the last few days!

    Use the link for a trial user and start an email support case - note that you are a subscriber and provide your LiveID in the message. Request a call back.
