I am on dial up....  I live in the woods you see....
I have Automatic Updates turned off, in the red, warnings etc... But One Care still downloads updates automatically.
This is a real pain since I cant do much else while this is going on (dial up ).  At the moment it shows that it is Checking for Updates, been at it for 30min and has downloaded 7mb so far... How can I controll this?
I love everything else about One Care but this is very frustrating.

One Care will update even with Automatic Update turned off. One Care definition updates cannot be turned off or scheduled, and while this may be inconvenient, you can only have maximum protection when malware definitions are up to date.

Inconvenient is not the word I would use.  Thanks Jim
