How do disable "open or download" prompt in IE10

    Question

  • When I click on a link to a lets say .mp3 file in IE10 (desktop mode), I always get this "do you want to open or download this file?" prompt. How can I disable the prompt? I want to always open those files with the application that is associated to the .mp3 file type.

I found an older thread about the same thing in earlier IE versions, but the Windows 8 registry does not seem to contain the key in question (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasecurity/thread/1aa49827-6d4f-4b42-9611-38e2c764d7e5)

It is very annoying to always answer the prompt for the same file type.

  • Same here. Didn't see anything in IE options...

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

  • What is wrong with following up the post in the IT pro IE forum? This IE development forum is for helping visitors in writing IE addons. Are you looking for writing a download manager to take over all IE downloads?
