MS CRM 2011 outlook client Unable to get Value of property 'getFormType'

    Question

  • Hi All,

I am facing a strange problem where when I access MS CRM 2011 from within outlook client (2010 on-line mode) and

      • open an existing form (for example opportunity) which uses getFormType function on its page load.
      • Then click on the left nav (say activity) of the form (opportunity)
      • Now if I close the form by clicking 'X' button on the right hand top corner I get the following error
<Message>Unable to get value of the property 'getFormType': object is null or undefined</Message>

  • I did some testing with UR11 on this, and the error does not seem to persist in UR11.

  • Hi.

What is the code you use to call the method?

    var formType = Xrm.Page.ui.getFormType();

  • Hey Jamie,

i have the same issue. Don't think it has anything to do with the actual getformtype used in my code. This seems to work. When I open an account and I go to another tab. When I close the form, then I get this issue..

    Have the latest Outlook client

    What can I do?

    Kr,

    Sven

  • Have done numerous tests with CRM UR11 and the issue persists

Where can I contact Microsoft for this?

  • I'm also experiencing this issue on a CRMOnline instance with RU12 Outlook clients. I'll post back once I find a resolution..
