LAPTOP KEEPS CRASHING - KERNEL-DATA-INPAGE-ERROR - VISTA SP2 IN USE

    Question

  • Reccently purchased registry Mechanic as laptop kept crashing with the below message (albeit numbers in brackets) differed very slighly.  Has not cured the problem my laptop has crashed again today whilst Outlook was open - note I was not working at the time but went away for a few minutes and came back to find the blue screen.   Message on blue screen reads as follows:

    ----------------

Problem with windows - shut down

    KERNEL-DATA-INPAGE-ERROR

    Tech Info

    (0XC0460ED0, OXC00000A3, 0X0FBD0860, 0X8C1DAD01) NETBT.SYS - ADDRESS 8C1DAD01 BASE AT 8C1B4000, DATESTAMP 49E0206F

    Collecting Data 4 crash dump

    Initializing Disk 4 crash dump

    --------------------------

Have been advised by Dell to try a hotfix but unsure wether to go this route as reads as though could cause more problems..

Currently have Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
    AMD Turion Processor 64 x 2
    32bit operating system

Are you able to give any assistance to a non technical person!
