    Hello WinkInVan,

These forums are for the support of Windows Genuine Advantage Validation issues. Your post does not appear to be Vista Activation or Validation related and, as such, is off-topic for the forum (as well as outside my area of knowledge).

That being said, The error "The update does not apply to your system." means either:

    a) The update only applys to a different version of Windows. (Confirm on the page that you downloaded the update from, that the update is, in fact, targeted to your version of Windows.)

    b) This update was already installed. (This could happen if you had Windows Update set to automaticlly install updates or the update could have been included in another update you install...such as SP1)

If you need any additional assistance with this issue, I suggest reposting your question to one of the Vista Newsgroups at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=42486 or go to http://support.microsoft.com for additional support options.

    Thank you,

  • Hit Enter too quickly. Sorry.

I bought a "Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse." The instructions clearly said, ""you must install a critical update ..." before using the mouse" if I'm running Vista and I am. When I tried to do so, "Windows Update Standalone Installer" said, "The update does not apply to your system."

Any thoughts on the seeming incongruency?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Regards,

    Bill
