    Hello jono_stars,

Preinstalling software and not providing a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) or other Proof Of License is a form of piracy known as Hard Disk Loading.

As you were not provided with any means to prove that you had a genuine license and as you were not provided with any means to reinstall the software, it is very likely that your previous installation of Word and Excel were pirated copies.

Purchase a genuine copy of Office Home and Student 2010 directly from Microsoft http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Office-Home-and-Student-2010/product/C7A370CA or from your favorite trusted major retailer.
