Office 2010 Professional Plus Key

    Question

  • I just purchased a key off eBay for Office 2010 Professional Plus, I have been very skeptical and still am. After doing some research and reading some post, I worry that the key I purchased is obtained illegally. Can anybody check and should I ask for a refund? Thank you!

  • Office Professional Plus is not available to the general public - only to corporations for use in their own machnes.

Whatever the WGA/OGA/WAT and MGADiag tools say now, the Key will probably be blocked in the not-so-distant future.

Try going to the validation site - http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and validating Office - see what error message you get if any.

(I don't think the MGADiag tool has been updated to deal with Office 2010 yet)

    then repost another MGADiag report.

  • Hello Zbenn,

In addition to what Noel wrote, it's easy to determine whether you purchased a nongenuine electronic (ie, emailed to you) product key.

Did you make your electronic product key-only purchase as a retail consumer from any source other than Microsoft itself, thru its digital distributor Digital River?

If the answer is Yes, then you have a nongenuine product key, regardless of whether it works immediately and regardless of whether it continues to work for a day, a month, or a year, and regardless of whether it is identified as Genuine or Nongenuine by the online Validation system.  The reason is that electronic product keys for retail consumers acquired by any means other than directly from Microsoft thru Digital River are product keys that have been lost, stolen, compromised to the internet, abused (like those MSDN keys for Windows 7) or made up with a Key Generator program.

If the answer is NO, you purchased your electronic product key directly from Microsoft thru Digital River, then you have perpetually licensed Genuine software.

Please note that the above does NOT apply to the physical Product Key Card that is being introduced with Office 2010.  This is a physical product being sold at local stores and thru many online retailers that contains a printed product key (or in some cases, a PIN that is used at a Microsoft website to download a product key).  These product key cards are intended to activate Trial installations of Office 2010 that are preinstalled on brand new computers.

In your case, since you wrote that you purchased the electronic product key from an eBay seller, BY DEFINITION it is a nongenuine product key. Please act quickly to request a refund from the seller or initiate a dispute thru eBay.
