Windows 7 - Build 7600 - This Copy of Windows is not genuine

    Question

  • Hey,

I was wonering if you could help me.

I purchased my Compaq laptop in December of 2010, I believe it runs HP, and it is Windows 7. I have had no problems with my system since I purchased it and I was closing down my programmes this evening ready to shut my laptop down and I noticed: "Windows 7, Build 7600, This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the corner of my screen.

I have googled the error looked around the other threads in this forum, but I can't make sense of anything. My copy of windows IS genuine, I don't want to shut my laptop down just incase I can't get it back on or anything. I'm going a bit spare at the moment as Windows 7 was already installed when I purchased my Laptop.

Is there anything you guys can do to help me make some sense out of this? As I say, I have gone through other topics, but they aren't making sense to me, so in leymans terms, if you could help me, I would very much appreciate it.

    Thank you,

  • Unfortunately, you have a not-for-resale copy of Windows 7 Professional installed that was pirated from a MSDN Subscription.  Please see: Blocked Product Keys

You can purchase a genuine Windows 7 Professional "Full Version" product key from the trustworthy Microsoft Store.

Please feel free to file a  Counterfeit Software Report.

Please repost a new report in your OWN NEW thread, if activating the system doesn’t work – the only problem I can see is that you neglected to enter the  Key on installation – you need to change the Key to the one that was sent you by the MS store – and should be in your MS Store account details.

  • I have the same problem as Nick (the original posted question/concern).  "Windows 7, Build 7600, This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the lower right corner of my screen.  Here is what I copied when I ran the Genuine Diagnostic tool from the link provided above.

Most Non-Genuine issue look the same regardless of the true underlying cause. So to help minimize the confusion caused by troubleshooting multiple different issues, we ask that all users creat their own thread for thier own specific issue.

In other words, please do not post "Me Too" messages in other people's threads.
