MicroSoft Money 2006

    Question

  • I am using Microsoft Money 2006 and I am having trouble with reports. I created reports and after archiving an old year and renaming my file to the current year I am getting pop-ups that the old reports are no longer valid and need to be deleted. The problem is I get a second pop-up that the action cannot be preformed and I can't do anything in money with any of my accounts because the pop-up about the report not being valid continues to be a problem. It won't let me create new reports either. Can someone help to resolve this problem

  • It may be that you have reports that refer to accounts that no longer exist in your file after archiving.

Most users don't archive because it has no advantage other than the "neatness" of having a file for each year and there are significant disadvantages.  Here are two FAQs about archiving that give some specifics:

Reverting to the backup of your un-archived file is the simplest solution.  If that is not an option, you could try File>Standard File Repair which will remove all reports in addition to repairing the file.

Let us know how you make out.
