  • it is most useful because it affects the batch system which is connected with command interpreter of your os . so it gives the command to os to perform the lock or unlock operation with that folder or directory.

  • The problem is, when someone right click at locker.bat then select edit. He can open the file in notepad, then he can see and edit (change) your password.

How to block someone from open the locker.bat file?

    Saturday, March 01, 2008 3:45 AM
  • This is a great idea in theory but entering the incorrect password still unlocks the file
    Friday, April 11, 2008 7:05 PM
  • Dear friend,

This is not a safe locker, anyone can open this folder locker if you cannot stop edit the bat file, so please find a solution for that and share ur valuble information to others. But still i salute you.

  •

After you lock your folder.. delete the batch file. When you want the folder back, create the same batch file with the same password. it works.

  • Nice idea, for I can deal with the password by edit...
The real problem i can see is that when u rename the hidden folder say "New Folder.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
Any one can right click the folder, and rename it, hence, the locking will be disappeared and can be open by easy double click

how can I remove the part {21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} from folder name so it appears the folder name only

    Thank you all

  • SIMPLY JUST DOWNLOAD THE .BAT TO .EXE CONVERTOR AND CONVERT THE LOCKER.BAT FILE. THIS IS A ONE WAY CONVERSION SO THE .BAT FILE CANNOT BE CONVERTED BACK TO .EXE.. FOOLPROOF~

  •

This is a simple code.. So there is nothing to worry even if u lost your 'key' file.

1.If you lost your key file.. Simply make another one copy pasting the same thing.

    2. For those who need higher protection, delete the key file/ move it to some other folder and bring it back when necessary

3.Somebody posted.. 1st code is unlocking even if wrong password.. please check you replaced the entire phrase "type your password here " with your password because password cannot include space for this pgm. so use single word as password.

    and finally,

    for those who are interested..

    ::::::

What is actually done here is simply renaming the folder. You can see th 'REN' command in the code. the actual folder is reflected to some system folders when locked.

    ren Locker "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"

Unlocking means renaming back to the normal name

    ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Locker

Only this much.. so be cool.. dont make it a big issue.. :-)

  • That's not a real folder locker, that's just hiding it, people want to be able to make sure they can't delete it, I already made a program that does the trick, but it only works in the dictionary.

Its called panda locker Zhangka, way better then your stupid script.

  • this dosen't lock ur folder.............

simply convert ur folder to system folder.....so that it is invisible to the normal user................

to view ur folder without entering the password just follow the steps below.............

    1>go to tools

    2>folder option

    3>click on view

4>uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)".

::(Make sure to change the password BEFORE "locking" the file, AND do not try to

::type the script with actual bolds, underlines, and italics...)

    for example:

    enter password to unlock folder

  • And how do I do that? And is there a way to keep people from right-clicking and seeing the password? I mean.. you can change the password... Unless there is a way to prevent this; this method is COMPLETELY useless...

    Monday, May 21, 2012 2:34 PM
  • All you need to do is, right click on example.bat after that change bat format into txt, a message will pop up and ask your permission to change the format. just say YES. and the example.bat will change into example.txt, double click on example.txt and change your password or change whatever you want.

    1. Goto Folder Option.

    2. Then Goto View TAB.

    3. Uncheck the box--- Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)

    4. This will unhide each and every files of your system.

    5. Goto to the path, where you hid your data and retrieve it.

    Enjoy:))

  • Hi,

I used the above code - but have got a problem.

The folder I hid and protected is on a fileserver. I'm accessing the fileserver via software call VMWARE on a linux machine). I had to log off of the VMWARE recently and when I logged back in and tried to unlock my folder "Private" the contents had disappeared.

If anyone can think of how I might be able to hunt it down again I would be very grateful.

  • I'd like to point out that this is so insecure that finding the password is as easy as right clicking on the .bat file and clicking "edit", But to your average computer illiterate user this should be enough to keep people out of your porn or plans for world domination or whatever else you could be hiding. I can't wait 'til I see someone using this on their pc so I can crack their folder before their eyes in seconds. I might even suggest that people use this method to find out their greatest secrets......muhuhahahahahahaha!

  • Hi All.

Interesting, everyone is trying safe there folders or data with password protection.........

But this is bit difficult to handle or to run the code.

I have a trick, you can hide your folder without any code to place your folders in safe place !!

    Try this :

CMD : attrib +s +h Folder Name hit enter now no one can identify where is your folder is,

To reopen attrib -s -h Folder name.

    Thank's

    Vinay Kumar.

  • ANOTHER SAFER WAY:

    1. Generate a very long password, e.g. 1024 letters; **THIS IS IMPORTANT, ELSE OTHERS MAY GUESS THE PASSWORD
    2. Save in a text file called key.txt
    3. Write the batch file as usual, but CHANGE THIS LINE
        set /p pass="pass=>"
       TO THIS LINE
        set /p pass=<%~dp0\key.txt
       OR MAYBE
        set /p pass=<%~dp0key.txt
    4. Save the batch file AND USE bat to exe converter to convert it.
    5. That's all!
