You pick one of the new exams from Microsoft (from the MCTS range), you study for it using legit materials then you book the exam at any Prometric testing centre.  When you pass you get the MCTS credential :)

See here for the list of MCTS exams you can take: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcts.aspx#tab2

You will have to contact your local prometric centre as the exam prices are different around thr world (unless someone local to you can answer that).  You may be able to pay by cash at a local testing centre.

Many of different exams credit towards different MCTS certifications .
And Diffferent exams have  different formats or types .SO you should specify  your requirements !!
Besides ,NO detailed  answer about the format from the microsoft official sites .
And you just can get a reference answer from those expriencing your exams.
maybe some forums or microsoft certification blogs could help you .

For all Microsoft exam a good score is 700 or above:

Quote from MS - Q. How should I interpret my score report?

    A. There are several important pieces of information on the score report:
Your scaled score and pass/fail status: All Microsoft Certified Professional exams are scaled so that a passing score is 700. Any score of 700 or greater is a "pass." Any score below 700 is a "fail." Different passing scores do not reflect different levels of examinee knowledge.

Because of the way Microsoft sets the cut score, we cannot guarantee that an examinee who scores 900 is more knowledgeable in the exam's topic area than an examinee who scores 800. We can only say that both examinees are at least minimally qualified. The same is true for failing scores. An examinee who scores 400 is not necessarily less knowledgeable in the exam's topic area than an examinee who scores 600. In this case, both examinees fail to meet the minimum qualifications for the certification. This is why your exam scores do not appear on your transcript.

    See here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/exam-prep.aspx#tab3

The number of question per exam will vary exam to exam, as each exam is give a group of questions from a pool of questions.  One thing I would say is do not get caught up in things like number of questions and end score as these aren't academic exams where things are fixed.  In the real world it's pass or fail, regardless of if you were asked 30 or 60 questions.

    Hi

You make a visit to www.prometric.com and you try to find out the technology on which you want to apply then the region where you reside to discover the official centers where you presume take the exam, then you can purchase what is called a Voucher online if you can't you simply bell one of those center and discuss them about the expense and the administrative issues, if it is OK then they fix you an appointment to take your exam. That's all

MCTS refers to Microsoft certified technology specialist. It can be considered an entry level certification.

MCTS certification can be obtained both under the software and Networking domain. For e.g., person can be called MCTS if he clears either a dotnet certification or a networking certification such as windows vista or windows 7.

In order to get certified, you need to go through the syllabus, get yourself registered at the nearest Prometric centre and write and pass the exam. The exams typically cost 50 $ per paper. On completing, you have the option of getting your certificate shipped to you by paying 10 $ or a free download of your certificate from mcp.microsoft.com
