If you are studying for a Windows 2008 R2 test you would also want to know PowerShell. Here is a book on PowerShell

Hi English Plucky, I would recommend the following two books that I purchased. They are both excellent.
1) Windows Server 2008 Portable Command Guide: MCTS 70-640, 70-642, 70-646
2) Windows Command-Line Administrator's Pocket Consultant, 2nd Edition
The first book is by Darril Gibson who wrote the Sybex 70-646 study guide, and the second is by William R. Stanek, series editor for Microsoft Press' popular "Administrator's Pocket Consultant" line of books. While Stanek's book was written for Server 2008 and Windows Vista, it is still largely applicable to Server 2008 R2.
I hope you find these books useful.

Hi Nate56, I agree with you on the importance of PowerShell in Server 2008 R2 training, but the book you recommend by Ed Wilson is on PowerShell 1.0, and therefore not really applicable to Server 2008 R2 which uses PowerShell 2.0 by default.
Two good books on PowerShell 2.0, which I own and would highly recommend, are:
1) Windows PowerShell 2.0 Administrator's Pocket Consultant
2) Learn Windows PowerShell in a Month of LunchesOf the two books, the first one, by William Stanek, is more authoritative for Windows administration, while the second, by Don Jones, is more accessible, and easier to read, and therefore more useful to me. I therefore use the Stanek as a reference, and the Jones as a tutorial.
