Answered MCPD and C# Element?

    Hi there

I have looked into the path for achieving MCPD and have been told that it is the best way to go because MCAD will be outdated.  To achieve MCPD Web Developer .NET 2.0 with VS2005, you first need to do two exams from the MCTS:

70-536 .net framework application development foundations

    70-528 web based client development.

Then to get your MCPD you do one upgrade exam ie 70-551.

However what I was wondering is do you need to know C# or VB really well first before going on to do the two 70-536 and 70-528, because it says that you can pick the language you want to use, but I dont see part of these exams including learning C# or VB?

Therefore, if starting out with certification and not having a lot experience in C#, is it recommended to first do MCSD first which includes the exam 70-315 (if you are doing C#) then when you have achieved MCSD, go for the upgrade exam to MCPD?  Or do you need to sit down with a book and just learn C# yourself then do the two MCTS exams?  OR would it be Ok to do 70-315 to get the C# experience you need before going onto do the two MCTS exams required for MCPD.

Both exams comes in either C# or VB you choose the language you have been using to write code to answer the questions.  And you cannot pass 70-536 without advanced C# or VB knowledge because that is the language exam and I have told you the books you need to read to pass 70-536.

If you did not see the languages relevance to the exams then you may not be ready for the exams because I did.

The questions you are asking is valid but very good c# books like the ones from Herbert Schildt and Jeffery Richter wiill help you understand C# at advanced level.  And in Asp.net 2.0 buy book by Dino Esposito and lookup the rest information from ScottGu blog most things you need to know about Asp.net he covered it or posted links to it.  I have told you I am here to help but I need specific section from the exam areas covered link.

    Hi Caddre,

I really appreciate your help.  You have created an excellent picture for me now and I really understand the path I need to take to achieve MCPD.  I realise that I am no where ready for these exams because I need to work on my ASP.NET skills and C#Skills first before even thinking about the exams for MCPD.

    many thanks.
