Windows mobile upgrade with myphone
hello
i have a toshiba tg01 phone with microsoft windows mobil 6.1 professional.
i have syncronised data with myphone... contact and sms are important.
my question is: if i upgrade my phone's os to windows mobile6.5 profesional, and sync again with my account... will myphone recognize my phone as the same phone or will it add it as a new one?
i only want to upgrade if i am sure i can restore all my contacts and sms to my phone.
10x :D

- I expect that it will recognize your device as a new device and that you will have to add it as a new device.
You can always delete the current phone and after the upgrade, connect it to MyPhone and add the device. You will then be able to sync the contacts, calendar etc.

- Here is another option to use BEFORE you upgrade the OS on the phone. Although I have not used this feature yet, Archiving is a way to make sure you have all your information safely stored.
Here is a FAQ on Archiving with MyPhone:
Archiving is a way to free up space on your phone. An “archived” item remains in the archive section of your My Phone account, but is removed from the phone.
To restore an archived item to the phone, sign in to your My Phone account, select the Archive view from the left panel, click or tap the item, then click Restore. The item will be transferred to your phone the next time that you sync.
Previously synced items that are deleted from your phone are automatically moved to the Archive folder in your My Phone account. Items deleted from the Archive are permanently deleted.

- Hi infinity,
I can't guarantee you right now if the device will identify as the previous or a new one.
Anyway, if you use your Windows Live ID to signin in My Phone application, you will be able to restore to your new upgraded phone all the content you have in your My Phone Web Account.
Let me know any of your remaining concerns, if any.
Thanks.- Proposed As Answer byJoão Paiva Wednesday, November 04, 2009 4:02 PM
