Proposed AnswerRestored SMS messages are out of order

I recently started using the My Phone service with my AT&T HTC Fuze. I wanted something to backup my docs and sms. The backup worked as it should and I was able to view all the information on the net instantly. Then I tried to do a restore, it didn't go so well. All my SMS messages were restored but they are all out of order. I looked on the website and saw that all the message showed the time/date yet they still restored out of order. Don't know if this has something to do with my phone, windows mobile 6.1 or the service.

    I have the same problem.
    Windows mobile 6.1
    LG Incite

They are all out order and terribly messed up. I think half my messages might even be missing.

It is terribly bothersome. I like my phone nice and organized but this is ridiculous :(

This is a known issue.  It is because the SMS Store orders them by the time they are inserted in the store, not the time they were sent by the mobile operator.  We are working on a solution.

This is a problem when threaded messages are on in WM6.

Any update as to when this will be resolved?

    Thanks,

I have had this same issue...and have tried to manually correct the issue but every time the MyPhone application Syncs it resets it right back...and I have roughly 5000+ text messages, so this is a serious issue for my management.  Any ETA for a solution?

My phone recently crashed and had to do a hard reset which wiped out all my information. Once I got the phone working again and all my apps restored, I went to restore my data with the MyPhone application. Once it was the my MyPhone application was updated it began to sync my data... I kept my fingers crossed. Well, the issue still is alive and well... all my text messages were out of order. Wonderful!

It's out of beta but still has bugs... hopefully the next update takes care of this.

BTW, stating this is a "known issue" and that it's "being worked on" is NOT a resolution to this topic. The resolution would be a working product.

    Hi csonera,

As Marco mentioned, we are working on a fix for this issue and hope to release it in a future software update.  Until then, and I agree it's unfortunately the case, restored text messages will be out of order.

Csonera - We appreciate the situation and are marking this thread as answered just for our tracking purposes given that the My Phone team is working on the solution. This thread still stays viewable and available for additional postings. We appreciate your perspective and welcome your continuing to view and post. We again understand where you are coming from and wanted to explain how we track issues from the forums into our system, using feedback from the community.

There is no question it is an issue and we know it is being worked on and as soon as the resolution is available we will post it in this thread.

I'm not particularly happy with having it marked as answered Csonera but wmta2 is correct because of the tracking we use for forum questions.  I hope you understand that.

Be advised that I chatted with Marco on a conference call yesterday and that I am convinced that this is a priority issue to them and that we will see resolution.  Hopefully they will nail it down ASAP.

Frankly I am appalled.  Why wouldn't Microsoft point this out to people when they sign up?!  I restored my SMS, and they are all out of order, and practically unusable.
It seems like this has been a known issue for MONTHS, and so far nothing has been done to resolve it.

Does anyone know of a way to fix the order of restored messages?

I upgraded my HTC Diamond 2 from WinMo6.1 to 6.5 and hit this problem when I restored my data. Looking forward to a fix. I hope the fact you have been working on it for 5 months now means that you must be close to releasing a solution.

Some one here mentioned that this was an issue with threaded SMS, does this mean that if we turn off threaded sms sync and then turn it on it all syncs correctly?

    Hello there,

while waiting for the fix, could one of the creators who is working on it answer this question?

The data, which has been synced already with bugged version, will they be restored in the proper order with the fix or will the fix most likely apply only to new messages and new sync? That is after the data has been backed up, phone hard reseted and restored?

    Thank you,

    jwit

That is a difficult question to answer jwit.  My guess is that they willnot be able to do that but you never know ... it may happen.  Inn any event, if not, there may be a way to deal with the issue after they create a fix.  We will just have to wait and see how they make out with it.
