Find my phone inaccuracy
- I have a HTC Diamond, when i use the find my phone feature it returns a position approx 5km from my actual location. My internal GPS is activated and Whereis Maps returns an exact location. Does the My Phone application use satellite GPS or phone towers?

- Brian,
Thanks for the info. This sounds indeed like an issue with our location service. I'm going to forward the info off to that team and hopefully they'll be able to get a fix in place soon.
In the mean time, if you want coax your phone into using the GPS data, one thing that's worked for me in the past is to install the Bing application (http://www.discoverbing.com/mobile/) and then have it locate your position using GPS. That should then "prime" the device for the next My Phone sync to report your location.

- Hi Brian64,
Thanks for using Microsoft My Phone. The My Phone application will first try and use GPS for location, but in case of a failure, it will default back to cell town data. You're likely seeing the cell tower data and hence, the 5K radius.
Can you tell us your location and who your mobile operator is? (Verizon, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, DT, etc...)
Also, do you know if you are running Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5?

First of all thanks for the prompt response.
Location: Australia (Tasmania)
Service Provider: Telstra Mobilenet
Operating System: Windows Mobile 6.1
for clarification the map is showing a 1km radius circle, the centre of this circle is approx 5km from my actual location. - Brian,
