Mediation Server and a third-party basic media gateway function as a single logical unit to enable communication between the users enable for Enterprise Voice and the PSTN or a SIP trunking provider.

I believe they are asking about the Windows Media Format Runtime that OCS installs during initial setup. The core file is stored in the Setup\AM64 directory as wmfdist64.exe and is a required file to support roles like the CAA and CAS for example.
