Proposed Answer Customizing Track/Untrack and Set Regarding buttons in MS CRM 2011 Outlook Client

    Hi,

We want to remove the "Track" button provided inthe outlook add-in for MS CRM, to avoid unnecessary tracking of contacts and other outlook items; hence to have "Set Regarding" renamed to "Track" and dont want to use the OOTB "Track" button and its OOTB functionality (to track Contacts and other Outlook items except for our custom entities) at all. But after Set Regarding is set for an email, next time when we wish to untrack we want to have the "UnTrack" button also.

In short, our requirement is to have only “Set Regarding & Untrack” buttons. After "Set Regarding" is set for an email to associate with a specific entity, next time when we wish to untrack it from CRM, we want to have the "UnTrack" button enabled to dissociate from the entity where it is tracked.

Any ideas on how this can be achieved?

    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi May be,

I really don't think that this is possible. This part of the Outlook Ribbon is not customisable.

    Hi May be

As Scott said, the CRM ribbon for Outlook is not customizable. With CRM 2011, when you Set Regarding it already automatically tracks the entity, therefore, the next time you come around, there will only be an UnTrack button - which is exactly what you're describing above if I understand correctly. So why do you still need to customize it?

    Thanks,
    Monica

If it is possible, which is unlikely, the cost would be prohibitive. My recommendation would be to invest the money in training and in establishing good conventions on the use of the system.
