Is your remote machine able to access CRM with the Web browser?  If so, then maybe something isn't quite right with the Outlook Client profile or the CRM for Outlook installation.  I would first try uninstalling the CRM for Outlook Client, ensure there are no issue with your Office Outlook profile / installation and try the install again.

Ensure you can communicate with the CRM server from the machine and that you have a valid copy of the CRM for Outlook Client download.  You can also check the event viewer on the machine to see if there are any other errors logged that might help identify the issue.

If i remake my url to crm.afccinc.com:5555 i just get an 401:unauthorized.

On this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/954302 is says to add my clients IP address to the subkey named " IfdInternalNetworkAddress ". That subkey is not in the keys to choose from when looking at the reg from the machine that my CRM server is installed on.

I did add this key and it did not work either.

My guess this has something to do with how you installed the CRM Outlook client and your CRM server configuration.  If you have CRM configured for IFD and you want to connect to the CRM application through the CRM Outlook Client when you are not connected to the domain, then you need to ensure that you select the correct option when installing the CRM Outlook Client and enter the correct URL in the spaces provided.  See this article for details.
