CRM 2011 On-Premises RU1 Web Client Error '_bShowPendingEmailReminder' is undefined

Unanswered CRM 2011 On-Premises RU1 Web Client Error '_bShowPendingEmailReminder' is undefined

Ever since a recent CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011 On-Premises upgrade, we are seeing behavior where whenever you start a new session in CRM via a browser the dashboard comes up correctly.  However, the first time you click on a link on the left side of the page you get the following error:

Microsoft Dynamics CRM has encountered an error. ... Then options to send/don't send to MS.

CRM works fine after that and it doesn’t appear to happen again when using the left nav until your start another new session.  The details from the error report are below. It looks like the new "Pending Email Reminder" prompt doesn't load correctly, even through I did an advanced find and there are no pending emails in the system. This issue goes away if you change the outgoing email profile for the user to Outlook instead of the Email Router. CRM Server and Email Router are all on RU1. Any ideas?

I will start a case with Microsoft and post back what I find.

Have you found out anything about this issue? One of our clients is facing the same problem.

We're seeing this as well now. But not on all computers. Is it a browser version issue perhaps? Any update would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Stuart.

Currently, we only have the following workaround. Still working on the underlying issue:

    From Microsoft:

1.Could I get you to please go to the following location and change your users personal settings.

a.Open up the CRM Web Client.

b.Go to the Tools and Options.

    c.Go to the Privacy Tab.

d.Under the Every time that an error occurs when I run Microsoft Dynamics CRM: choose the option Automatically send an error report to Microsoft without asking me for permission and hit ok.

My Client has decided that the workaround is good enough for them, so we've stopped investigating the underlying issue and closed the case. I'll keep on this thread if anything further is discovered.

    Thanks,

    Phil

    Hi,

We are also getting so many weird error messages like this, but not for all users.

Any one found solution for this problem?

    Thanks.

We have the exact same problem with some users.  We are running CRM 2011 UR 6.  For these users it happens every time they open a new browser and first navigate using the left toolbar.  The error message is:

    Fault bucket 2788210514, type 5
    Event Name: CRMScript
    Response: Not available
    Cab Id: 0

    Problem signature:
    P1: 5.0.9690.1992
    P2: /_static/_common/scripts/main.js?ver=-1007161432
    P3: 1
    P4: openReminder()

The interesting thing is these users do not have their "Email access type - Outgoing" setting to None.

Does anyone have more information on how to overcome this issue?  Some of the users have changed the setting to automatically send error reports to Microsoft.  Unfortunately this doesn't fix the underlying problem, it just hides it.

Delete all Browsing History including 'Form Data' in user machine's Browser and check if you are still getting the error.

This error disappeared for us after deleting the History.

    Hope that helps.

    Sushma999,

Thanks for the suggestion, I was hopeful it would fix our problem.  Unfortunately, after deleting ALL of the browser history and rebooting the computer, the problem still exists.

I have experienced similar issues with customers that have folder redirection is enabled and Internet Explorer is not able to create a “UserData” folder which should exist in the users windows profile. The CRM pages try to write persistence information into the UserData folder and will throw this error if the UserData folder does not exist.

You could probably reproduce this issue outside of CRM by going to this URL and trying to save or load data. It will result in the same script error stating that "The system cannot find the file specified".

    http://samples.msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/samples/author/persistence/userData_1.htm

If you find that this file is missing you could manually create it or use the following command in a cmd prompt window.

    if not exist "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UserData" md "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UserData"

If this is impacting several users this script can be used in a batch file to automate the folder creation via group policy.

    Hi Guys,

I think the issue is caused by a compatibility problem between Dynamics CRM Outlook Client 4 and Dynamics CRM 2011. I've described it in more detail here:

Trev clued me into the problem.  I've found that it fixes the problem if you clear out all IE cookies on the client machine.
