A SQL Server error occured
-
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 12:34 AM"A SQL Server error occurred. Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community
for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support. Do you want to send the e-mail? If you click Yes, the e-mail will be sent out, but no corresponding activity will be created in Microsoft Dynamics CRM."
This is only when responding to an email generated via workflow. Also in the event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSCRMAddin
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5983
Date: 2/23/2009
Time: 2:02:50 PM
User: N/A
Computer: COMPUTERNAME
Description:
An error occurred while promoting a Microsoft CRM e-mail message. Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80044150. Context=. Function=CMailItemHelper::HrPromoteMailItemInCrm. Line=1643.
We can forward the email and no issue arises. I have seen a few different items that dont seem to work. The customer is in between CIO's and do not want to do Rollup 1 or 2 until a new one arrives.

Hello,
There is a hotfix that applies to this error message. I believe it is included in one of the rollups, but you can install it individually if you are not comfortable doing the rollup;

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 5:27 AMJoel, Thanks. I ran that on both the Client and Server, IISRESET, Same error's. If I open a case with MS will they make me run the rollup's before helping? I dont want to burn a case for them to say "run the rollup".

If it is a problem solved by the rollups, they may require you to run the rollups.
Are the e-mails that have trouble being tracked e-mails with logos/images in the signature? Try changing the e-mail to plain text, then tracking it, or go to the diagnostic tool (start-->Programs-->Dynamics CRM 4.0-->diagnostics, go to support mode, advanced troubleshooting, and try deleting Outlook temporary files.
There is a bug in 3.0 that I have also seen in 4.0 that affects emails with images in the sig. Basically when you get one of these e-mails, the image is stored in the Outlook temporary files, and it can only store up to 99 copies of the same image file before problems start.
Converting the message to plain text also can help in this case.
I don't see this issue very often, but we do have one user who experiences this issue from time to time. -
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 11:20 AMAre there any error message on server also. Please paste the same
Idea
Run Sql server profiler for getting more information
1. Run sql profiler
2. Start the client
3.Stop the sql profiler ( as soon as error occurs)
Hopefully this helps

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 10:22 PMI tried the cache/temporary files items to no avail. It is strange that you can forward the message but not reply. It is on all users but the owner of the original email (work flow generated). I am going to run a trace when I get on site this afternoon.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 12:38 AMI ran SQl profiler twice. Once where as I clicked no on the error, message, and once where I clicked yes. I am not seeing anything that makes too much sense to me. Anyone care to take a look at the trc files?
