Off-line version of CRM 2011 suddenly stop working

My local copy of CRM stopped working with no explanation other than the following message I receive when I'm on-line and try to Go Off-line. "Failed to start or connect to the offline mode Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition database"
When I'm not connected to the internet, I have no CRM.
Using Windows 7 and some automatic updates were run lately, which is when it seamed to start giving me problems, but cannot revert back to prior Windows build.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks...Jeff

Daniel,
I checked services and it was showing SQL CRM was Disabled. No idea how this got changed. But I set it to automatic and started and still didn't work. I rebooted PC as well, confirmed SQL service was running again, which is was, but still no luck. Nothing has been added (other than windows update) that could cause this to my knowledge. I am using the current CRM 2011. I also have full Admin rights. On-line access works fine.

Everything seems to be in order. I'm tempted to just re-install CRM on the local machine to see if that fixes the problem. I'll wait to see if you have any other ideas before I do that though.
Thanks for the help.

ok, the problem could be when u reinstall that u will lost the data, when u already have worked offline.
I would first try to repair the sql installation. this could also cause lost data

Friday, June 22, 2012 10:24 AMDaniel, if Jwindsor has successfully gone "online" but is unable to now "go offline" then there should be no issue of data loss since this is not currently in offline mode and should already have synched last changes.
Hope this helps. Adam Vero, MCT

Daniel,
Just so I'm understanding, does the CRM get uninstalled first or the SQL. Is it OK to only uninstall CRM and not SQL? I have other programs using SQL so if I can leave it in place it would save time. Also, my off-line files are synced with the server, so no chance of losing data from my computer.

You can uninstall crm first and then sql, in the install dialog of sql you can choose only the crm module and leave the others, is there maybe a businesscontactmanager db?

Not having much luck today, maybe I should switch to Goldmine. The Uninstall and re-install went well, but when it came time from Outlook to install the off-line version, the installation stops during the Installation Process. It indicates "Components are now being installed" and "Installing MS SQL Server Express" but after about 5 minutes of waiting, and no movement on the installation process bar, I get a message "restart your computer to complete the installation" After restart, I get the same process and I'm in a continuous loop of the install process.
I checked my other program using SQL and it works fine.
Any ideas???
